Long Staple Cotton

More commonly known as ‘Egyptian cotton’, but refers to fibres that have grown from the Gossypium Barbadense plant. What differentiates this particular type of cotton from all others, is the longer, silkier fibre. Where normal cotton usually measures around 26-27mm, extra-long staple cotton measures around 35mm. While this difference is primarily only visible under a microscope, the fabric woven by extra-long staple cotton has a distinctively softer, silkier feel and is considered to be the world’s most luxurious and premier type of cotton.
